The 2019 FLW tour season is well underway with five events already in the books. Last year, was my sophomore year and I definitely experienced the sophomore slump. This year I came into the season with what I thought was a new approach, having lost 50 lbs, feeling better physically, and looking to perform at a higher level. The problem, as I see it now, is I put so much pressure on finishing in the top 100 that I stopped doing the most important thing... Having Fun!

In the latest event on Cherokee Lake, I told myself I would just go out and enjoy fishing at this at this level. And sure enough I finished in 58th place, cashing my first check of the year and keeping my at least with a sliver of an opportunity to qualify for next year.

 It's funny how fishing at this level is such a mental game. I am committed to making those mental changes for the final two events of this season and continuing to grow in this sport. I am very grateful to my main sponsors, EZ Kut Products, Takedown Eventures and Two J's Industries for supporting me even when things are not going so well. Being avid outdoorsmen themselves they know that the thrill of the "hunt" isn't always in the victory but the time and effort put into to honing your skill. That's why I'm proud to represent them and strive to make them proud both on and off the water.
